Job summary

Mondelēz International in Naperville, IL is seeking a Journeyperson Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance on plant equipment and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime. You will repair mechanical systems and collaborate with Operations to drive continuous improvements on the line.

The role requires at least 2 years of manufacturing experience, apprenticeship or training, and the ability to read drawings. Shift work on the 3rd shift with a comprehensive benefits package is included.

• At least 2 years manufacturing experience in similar roles.
• Completed an approved Apprenticeship or Training.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment with limited supervision.
• Learn and apply Continuous Improvement tools (IL6S).
• Capable of working as part of a High Performance Team.
• Able to work any shift, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Problem solving and practical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Repair, replace defective parts and equipment with mechanical ability.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints or sketches.
• Work with pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, drives, machining of parts, some electrical knowledge, hand tools, and welding.
• Operate forklifts, manlifts, ladders and scaffolds.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Boiler room, and Operations personnel as needed.
• Participate in groups to enhance reliability and productivity.
• Log work in SAP and assist enhancements to the CMMS.
• Work efficiently with minimal supervision in a team environment.
• Follow safety permits (LOTO, hot work, confined space).
• Protect machinery and equipment with proper care and knowledge.
• Support HACCP, QCMS, and related initiatives.

How you will contribute :

As Journeyperson Mechanic , your main responsibility will be to perform preventive maintenance on plant equipment to keep in good running order. Troubleshoot problems, recommend, and perform mechanical repairs to minimize downtime. Work collaboratively with Operations Team to share knowledge and contribute to a Continuous Improvement environment

• Utilize mechanical ability and knowledge to repair, replace defective parts and equipment.

• Ability to r ead and interpret drawings, blueprints or sketches .

• Working knowledge to include (but not restricted to) pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, drives, machining of parts, some electrical knowledge, hand tool usage, and welding.

• Must be qualified to operate forklifts, manlifts, ladders and scaffolds.

• Work effectively with electrical, boiler room, and/ or operations personnel when needed.

• Participate in groups or teams to enhance the reliability and productivity of equipment and processes.

• Report all work through a computerized maintenance system (SAP).

• Assist enhancements to computerized maintenance system.

• Work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision in a team environment.

• Knowledge and complete usage of LOTO, hot work permits, confined space permits.

• Protect the company's investment in machinery and equipment by exercising proper care, skill and knowledge in the use of Company investments.

• Support and participate in business initiatives ie. HACCP, QCMS, etc.

Salary and Benefits:

The hourly wage for this position is $37.88/hour. The position offers healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, and paid time off, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Some of these benefits have eligibility requirements.
