Flowers Foods, Inc. in Lafayette, LA is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Lead to ensure optimal efficiency through scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.

This developmental role prepares you for a supervisory position, overseeing hourly maintenance staff and contributing to training and performance development. The role requires proficiency in electrical wiring, PLCs, motor control, and mechanical repairs, with a path toward supervision and shift coverage.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a technician with demonstrated knowledge in industrial electrical wiring, PLC troubleshooting, motor control, equipment repair and installation.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required, Technical/Trade School certification or diploma a plus

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safe work habits, proper tool selection and usage, and general shop practices.
• Identify and inspect mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
• Rebuild mechanical drive components such as clutches and brakes.
• Verify and correct mechanical timing; perform preventive maintenance.
• Identify and troubleshoot electrical components and servo drives; wire and troubleshoot PLCs.
• Shadow running a shift and SAP reporting to prepare for supervision role.

Industrial Maintenance Leads ensure optimal efficiency is achieved by performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. The Industrial Maintenance Lead is a developmental position, designed to prepare incumbent for a supervisory role, often acting as Industrial Maintenance Supervisor in supervisor’s absence. This role is also responsible for contributing to and fostering the professional development, aptitude and technical expertise/performance of all hourly members of the industrial maintenance department.

Rising to the Challenge: Position Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safe work habits, proper tool selection and usage, general shop practices, maintenance tasks, thorough knowledge of support equipment, critical and non-critical equipment components, and equipment operational sequencing
• Demonstrate knowledge of electrical welding, gas welding and cutting, soldering, pipe fittings, and metal fabrication (milling and lathe)
• Identify and inspect mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components
• Rebuild mechanical drive components such as clutches, brakes, etc.
• Verify and correct mechanical timing
• Perform proper component lubrication and conduct preventive maintenance on specific equipment
• Identify mechanical wear and identify, troubleshoot, and replace mechanical drive and conveyor components
• Identify, wire, and troubleshoot electrical components
• Replace and troubleshoot servo drives, motor controls (motor starters), and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
• Identify and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) components and hardware
• Troubleshoot control wiring
• Update electrical and mechanical schematics
• Train for supervision role: shadow running a shift, SAP and reporting, critical process inspections, and preventive maintenance (PM) work verification of technicians
• Provide coverage for supervisor PTO
• Inspect shop (daily plant walk-through), ensuring cleanliness and that floor is shift ready, delegating tasks to technicians, as needed
• Demonstrate teamwork, communicate with empathy, and display accountability
• Practice learned knowledge of environmental and maintenance programs
• Maintain clean and safe work environment
• Practice and comply with all Company policies and procedures (EEO, Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.)
• Perform other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures
• Possess or attain licenses required by their respective municipal, county/ward or state regulatory agencies to work with boilers, refrigeration components and various other job‑related equipment

Knead to Know: Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a technician with demonstrated knowledge in industrial electrical wiring, programmable Logic Controller (PLC) troubleshooting, motor control, equipment repair and installation
• High school diploma or equivalent is required, Technical/Trade School certification or diploma a plus

Salary Range- $29.11/HR
