Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for industrial machinery in Paarl. The role focuses on designing, developing, and improving equipment from concept to production, with emphasis on precision and robust mechanical solutions.

You will create 3D models and 2D drawings, perform FEA and kinematic simulations, and ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective. Collaborative testing and ongoing improvements are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, specifically with industrial machinery.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor).
• Experience with FEA and kinematic simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of material selection, manufacturing processes (machining, welding), and hydraulics/pneumatics.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new industrial machinery and equipment, ensuring functionality and reliability.
• Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
• Perform stress analysis, tolerance analysis, and kinematic simulations to validate designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure designs are producible and cost-effective.
• Develop and execute testing procedures for new machinery prototypes.
• Provide technical support for existing machinery and identify areas for improvement.
