Job summary

Waste Pro of Louisiana is seeking a Lead Technician for its Industrial Division to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy trucks and equipment.

Responsibilities include diagnosing complex problems, servicing a variety of heavy equipment, road testing, emergency calls, and documenting work while upholding safety policies and OSHA standards. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.

Qualifications

• Mechanical or trade school certification; ASE Master Certification preferred.
• Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses advanced mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic/pneumatic problems and performs repairs to maximize safe operations.
• Reviews and completes repairs identified on DVIR and repair orders.
• Repairs and maintains heavy-duty equipment (rear load, front load, roll-off, grapple, etc.).
• Road tests vehicles to diagnose problems and confirm repairs.
• Performs emergency road calls and arranges towing when needed.
• Communicates with managers and drivers regarding vehicle issues and preventative measures.
• Documents parts usage and repair times concisely, follows safety policies and OSHA standards.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area and uses diagnostic laptops as needed.
• Uses factory service manuals for repairs and conducts safety checks.
• Performs all other duties as assigned and maintains a high standard of ethics and dependability.

Job Summary

Performs preventative maintenance, runs inspections, diagnostics tests, and repairs a variety of vehicles and equipment.

Essential Job Functions

1. Diagnoses advanced mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic/pneumatic problems, including chassis and body issues, and performs repairs and maintenance on all equipment to maximize safe and productive operations.
2. Reviews and completes repairs identified on DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report) and/or repair orders.
3. Perform repairs and maintenance on heavy duty equipment, including but not limited to rear load, front load, roll off, grapple, port-a-let, and other service type trucks, including chassis and body.
4. Road test vehicles to diagnose problems and confirm completed repairs.
5. Perform emergency road calls to repair trucks and/or arrange towing when they cannot be repaired onsite.
6. Communicate with managers and drivers regarding vehicle issues and discuss preventative techniques that may minimize future repairs.
7. Complete all required paperwork and computer data entry, including documenting parts usage and time in and out on repair orders, in a timely and concise manner.
8. Follow all safety policies and procedures.
9. Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
10. Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs, which may include use of a diagnostic laptop for troubleshooting both chassis and body issues.
11. Conduct repairs utilizing factory service manuals.
12. Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
13. Perform all other duties as assigned.
14. Maintain a high standard of ethics and dependability.

Other Job Responsibilities

• Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation-sponsored training courses as assigned.
• Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology used by Waste Pro when applicable.
• Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Work Environment

Normal setting for this job is inside and outside with occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of all maintenance and repair techniques.
• Ability to make road calls or perform test drives; a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
• Holding a valid CDL license is preferred.
• Mechanical or trade school certification; Master Mechanic Certification through the ASE program is preferred.
• Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles.
• Computer skills as required.
