Job summary

Austin Industrial is seeking workers for labor-intensive duties at our Lake Charles, LA site. You will perform various manual tasks, operate hand and power tools, and assist other craft personnel in a dynamic industrial environment.

Responsibilities include shoveling asphalt, patching, trenching, material handling, loading/unloading, and maintaining a clean, safe job site. Valid Driver's License and TWIC Card are required.

Qualifications

• Experience – 6+ months experience in an Industrial setting preferred.
• Certification/License - Valid Driver's License and TWIC Card.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
• Shovel bituminous concrete (asphalt) or other material into construction area.
• Assist in patching asphalt with hot and cold mix. Excavate and fills trenches and ditches.
• Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate hazards.
• Material handling and storage.
• Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Notify Foreman or Safety personnel of issues.
• Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in an industrial setting.
• Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods, and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Adjust and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Clean and restore building interiors damaged by fire, smoke, or water, using cleaning equipment.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage.
• Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after hours and checking electrical usage for hazards.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with hand trucks.
• Mow and trim lawns and shrubbery, clear debris from grounds.
• Notify managers concerning major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Other duties as assigned.
