Job summary

Design Group, a Barry-Wehmiller design division, seeks a Sr. Software Engineer to lead containerized solutions for industrial automation.

You will work with a team of experts to deliver Kubernetes-based production systems and collaborate with SCADA/MES engineers to align client needs with scalable deployments. You bring 6+ years in DevOps, strong Kubernetes production experience, and a drive to advance manufacturing IT.

Qualifications

6+ years of direct DevOps or cloud solutions architecture experience.
3-5+ years of Kubernetes in production, preferably with stateful apps.
Hands-on Docker container experience for production workloads.
Proficiency with Kubernetes YAML, Helm, CRDs.
Familiarity with ArgoCD or FluxCD for automated deployments.
Strong Bash, Python, or Go scripting for automation.
Knowledge of CI/CD tooling and Kubernetes integration (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
Understanding of networking, storage, and security in Kubernetes.
Willingness to learn Ignition or similar industrial automation platforms.
Travel willingness; prior consulting/industrial exposure a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist in containerizing industrial applications and ensure production readiness.
Develop and maintain Kubernetes configurations and Helm charts.
Collaborate to integrate CI/CD pipelines with Kubernetes for project delivery.
Support advanced Kubernetes features like auto-scaling and high availability.
Troubleshoot and optimize Kubernetes clusters for performance and security.
Translate application requirements with SCADA/MES engineers into containerized solutions.
Develop firm-wide standards for production containerized apps.
Represent the company and align with leadership principles.
