Job summary

Covestro in Baytown, TX is seeking an Instrument and Electrical Technician to evaluate, maintain, repair and troubleshoot electrical instrument and computerized process control systems in a chemical plant environment.

You will support engineers, perform PMs, calibrations, install/modify equipment, and ensure safety and reliability while collaborating with plant personnel and contractors. A hands-on, detail-oriented professional with strong technical knowledge is ideal.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.
Associates or college certificate in instrumentation or/or electrical field preferred.
Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program is required or strongly preferred.
Certified Control Systems Technician III certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

Test, calibration and PM of critical equipment/instruments and maintain PM records.
Installing, improving or modifying PCT equipment.
Troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing PCT systems and related electrical equipment.
Perform periodic preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.
Maintain electrical diagrams and wiring diagrams for PCT systems.
Interface with engineering, construction and plant personnel to ensure successful execution of PCT projects.
Monitor contract personnel on an as-needed basis.
Maintain safety awareness and knowledge of the plant, PCT and safety procedures.
Maintain an ongoing commitment and involvement in the quality improvement process.
Evaluates recurring maintenance problems to determine root cause and then formulates a corrective action plan to be implemented.
Troubleshoots PCT systems to identify and correct the problem.
Interprets information for various test equipment, documentation and verbal information from operations with respect to a given problem to expedite repair of equipment.
