Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. in Reston, VA is seeking an Environmental Scientist / Industrial Hygienist to join the Building Sciences and Industrial Hygiene Practice in the Reston/Washington DC area.

You will support Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments, perform site inspections, and assist with reporting and scoping for due diligence projects. The role emphasizes communication with clients and applying state-of-the-art environmental data collection methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental related field (Environmental Science, Geology, Biology).
• 1–3 years of building sciences and industrial hygiene experience in commercial/industrial sectors.
• Preferred certifications include AHERA Certified Building Inspector/Management Planner/Project Designer, USEPA Lead Inspector/Assessor, and ACAC Certified Microbial Consultant/Investigator/Indoor Environmentalist.

Responsibilities

• Support Due Diligence tasks including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
• Identify environmental conditions requiring further investigation through site inspections and interviews.
• Assist with reports and scopes for environmental due diligence assessments.
• Maintain regular communication with existing client base.
• Provide technical support to TRC Practices as needed.

Responsibilities will include:

• Support Due Diligence tasks including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
• Through site inspections and site contact interviews, identify environmental conditions requiring further investigation
• Assist with reports and scopes for environmental due diligence assessments
• Maintain regular communication with existing Client base.
• Provide technical support to all TRC Practices as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Environmental related field (Environmental Science, Geology, Biology)
• The position requires 1-3 years of prior building sciences and industrial hygiene experience, with a strong emphasis on the commercial and industrial sectors.

Preferred Qualifications:

• The successful candidate should have their Bachelor's degree in a science discipline, industrial hygiene, public health or environmental engineering and preferably one or more of the following certifications:
• AHERA Certified Building Inspector, Management Planner, and Project Designer.
• USEPA Lead Inspector/Assessor.
• ACAC Certified Microbial Consultant, Certified Microbial Investigator, and/or Certified Indoor Environmentalist.
