Job summary

Hillmann Consulting, LLC seeks an Industrial Hygienist to join our national environmental consulting team in the North Jersey/ NYC region. You will conduct investigations, collect air samples, develop remediation plans, and ensure regulatory compliance across projects.

Ideal candidates have 1–4 years in asbestos/IAQ, strong communication, and the ability to work with minimal supervision on diverse assignments. Excellent growth opportunities and comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree in a Science-related field.
• Experience: 1–4 years in asbestos, lead, indoor air quality, and mold/moisture inspections.
• Skills: Excellent communication, client management, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
• Certifications: Lead: Inspector/Assessor or Sampling Technician preferred; CHMM, 40 Hour HAZWOPER, 10/30 Hour Construction Safety, CIE/CMI desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain certifications and licenses.
• Respond to client emergencies as needed.
• Conduct investigations related to Industrial Hygiene, including IAQ, mold/moisture, asbestos surveys and lead-based paint inspections.
• Develop remediation plans, report findings, and ensure compliance with guidelines.
• Collect air samples during asbestos abatement; complete records, logs and chain of custody; timely submission of documents.
• Perform air and bulk sampling per EPA/OSHA/NIOSH methods.
• Perform limited asbestos containing material surveys.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Who We’re Looking For:

Qualifications:

• Education: Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree in a Science-related field.
• Experience: 1 to 4 years in the industry, with a focus on asbestos, lead, indoor air quality, and mold/moisture inspections.
• Skills: Excellent communication, client management, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
• Certifications:
  • Lead: Inspector/Assessor or Sampling Technician preferred.
  • Additional certifications like CHMM, 40 Hour HAZWOPER, 10/30 Hour Construction Safety, and CIE/CMI are desirable but not required.
• Other Requirements:
  • Mastery of the English language – written and spoken.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally work at heights greater than 6 feet (examples: ladders, rooftops, man-lifts, scaffolding).
  • Ability to occasionally work in confined spaces (examples: crawlspaces, attics).
  • Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to walk up/down multiple flights of stairs.
  • Ability to complete all mandatory trainings, including safety training.
  • Availability for off-hour emergency work.
  • Respond as a member of the Hillmann 24-hour disaster response team.

• Collect air samples during asbestos abatement work to verify compliance with local, state and Federal regulations including background, daily and clearance air monitoring; accurately completing project records, log books and chain of custody forms; and timely submission of samples and required project documentation.
• Perform air and bulk sampling according to EPA, OSHA, NIOSH, and industry analytical methods.
• Perform limited asbestos containing material surveys.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
