Job summary

Davenergy Solutions is seeking an Industrial Hygienist to support the VA Western Colorado Health Care System on-site in Grand Junction, CO. You will identify and control hazards across a multi-facility healthcare system, including hospitals, outreach centers, and mobile units.

Reporting to the Safety and Occupational Health Manager, you will conduct inspections, exposure monitoring, and develop mitigations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health Sciences, or a related field.
• Professional knowledge of IH principles, sampling techniques, instrumentation and control measures.
• Experience conducting IH surveys and exposure assessments in healthcare, labs, industrial, and construction environments.
• Working knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, EPA, VA regulations and standards.
• Ability to independently plan, manage, and execute an IH program with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret exposure data and assess health risks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for reports and guidance.
• Ability to wear respiratory protection and perform physical inspections.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Industrial Hygienist for VAWCHCS, supporting system-wide safety and occupational health operations.
• Identify, evaluate, and control chemical, biological, physical, and radiological hazards in healthcare, laboratory, industrial, construction, and outdoor environments.
• Conduct inspections, exposure monitoring, surveys, and studies related to hazards such as asbestos, hazardous drugs, ethylene oxide, formaldehyde, mercury, nitrous oxide, hazardous waste, water quality, and respirator programs.
• Perform industrial hygiene sampling, analyze data, interpret results, and develop recommendations to mitigate health risks.
• Evaluate compliance with OSHA, NIOSH, EPA, VA directives and regulations; develop control measures and work practice changes.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports and hazardous waste records in accordance with requirements.
• Provide expert consultation, training, and guidance to leadership, managers, and staff.
• Support environmental stewardship initiatives, including pollution prevention and resource conservation.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Davenergy Solutions, partnering with Planate Management Group (PMG), has been tasked with providing engineering and construction management support for the VA Western Colorado Health Care System. The work assignment will be on‑site in Grand Junction, CO.

As an Industrial Hygienist, you will serve as the subject matter expert for occupational and environmental health at the VA Western Colorado Health Care System. Reporting to the Safety and Occupational Health Manager, you will identify, evaluate, and control workplace hazards to protect the health and safety of employees and patients across a multi‑facility healthcare system that includes hospitals, outreach centers, and mobile units.

• Identify, evaluate, and control chemical, biological, physical, and radiological hazards in healthcare, laboratory, industrial, construction, and outdoor environments.

• Perform industrial hygiene sampling, analyze data, interpret results, and develop recommendations to mitigate occupational health risks.
• Evaluate compliance with OSHA, NIOSH, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, NRC, ACGIH, Joint Commission, and VA directives and regulations.
• Develop and recommend effective control measures, work practice changes, and exposure mitigation strategies.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, exposure documentation, and hazardous waste records in accordance with regulatory and VA requirements.
• Provide expert consultation, training, and guidance to leadership, managers, and staff on industrial hygiene and occupational health practices.
• Support environmental stewardship initiatives, including pollution prevention, waste minimization, and resource conservation.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

• Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health Sciences, or a related field of study
• Professional knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, practices, standards, sampling techniques, instrumentation, and control measures
• Experience conducting industrial hygiene surveys and exposure assessments in complex environments such as healthcare facilities, laboratories, industrial shops, and construction areas
• Working knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, EPA, ACGIH, NFPA, NRC, DOT, and VA regulations and standards
• Ability to independently plan, manage, and execute an industrial hygiene program with minimal technical supervision
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret exposure data and assess health risks
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare detailed technical reports and provide consultative guidance
• Ability to perform physical inspections involving walking, standing, bending, crawling, confined space entry, and moderate lifting
• Ability to wear respiratory protection (clean‑shaven as required by OSHA) and work in hazardous environments
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to see, hear, walk, drive, climb, reach, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be prepared to encounter all construction site conditions, including noise, dust, heights, odors, and enclosed spaces, and be physically capable of traversing sites with unstable footing, stairs, rough terrain, adverse weather, ladders, roofs, and other mobility‑challenging conditions. Must possess the physical ability to take measurements, perform tests comparing in‑place work to contract requirements, and observe work activities throughout the course of construction.
