Job summary

This position is located at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. It is a Direct Hire Solicitation with COLA applicable to Alaska. Qualifications include GS-7/GS-8/GS-9 levels with specialized experience or related graduate education in Industrial Hygiene or Safety & Occupational Health Management.

Management may assign duties at GS-09 level or provide a developmental capacity if not selected at the full performance. A variety of occupational safety and health responsibilities will be performed.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes identifying potential health hazards; ensuring compliance with established occupational safety and health regulations; or utilizing automated systems to prepare a variety of technical reports.
• Education: One year of progressively higher level graduate education in a field such as Industrial Hygiene, Safety & Occupational Health Management.
• Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

• Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing information to employees on safety or occupational health subjects; collecting exposure data to assess work practices and environmental conditions; and monitoring exposure data to assess environmental conditions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

• Education: One and a half years of progressively higher level graduate education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Industrial Hygiene, Safety & Occupational Health Management.
• OR
• Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

• Education: Two years of progressively higher level graduate education or a master's degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Industrial Hygiene, Safety & Occupational Health Management.
• OR
• Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.
