Yorke Engineering, LLC, a California environmental consulting leader, seeks an Industrial Hygiene and Safety Specialist to join our team in Southern CA offices. The candidate will evaluate work environments, design safety and health policies, and implement programs to ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 4–10 years of experience as an Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, or Environmental Health and Safety Professional, preferably in a consulting environment.
• Analyzes and ensures regulatory compliance related to health, safety, and environmental policies for local, state and federal regulations.
• Ability to perform safety, environmental, or occupational health inspections for compliance with established policies to identify potential new hazards.
• Familiarity with monitoring and sampling methods for air, dust, odor, and noise monitoring.
• Experience in developing and supporting an IH and EH&S management system for clients’ sites.
• Experience with IH/EH&S services such as PPE, OSHA regulations, ISO 14001, monitoring and reporting, ergonomics, LOTO, IIPP, and regulatory agency liaison.

Responsibilities

• Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments to design policies and procedures ensuring safety, health, and environmental compliance.
• Design programs to prevent disease or injury to workers and protect the environment.

We are looking for a sharp Industrial Hygiene and Safety Specialist to join our team in any of our Southern CA offices (Los Angeles, Long Beach, Diamond Bar, Riverside, San Juan Capistrano, or San Diego). This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week during our normal business hours. Position Summary:

The Industrial Hygiene and Safety Specialist reviews, evaluates, and analyzes work environments and is responsible for designing policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulations on safety, health, and the environment. They will also design programs to prevent disease or injury to workers and damage to the environment. This candidate will be analyzing regulatory required compliance and technical issues, and communicating those analyses with clients, peers, and with regulatory agencies; performs other duties as required or assigned.

This is an experienced level position working under general supervision.

The candidate qualifications we are looking for include:

• 4-10 years of experience as an Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, or Environmental Health and Safety Professional, preferably in a consulting environment;
• Analyzes and ensures regulatory compliance as they relate to the health, safety, and environmental policies for our clients, this includes local, state and federal level regulations;
• Ability to perform safety, environmental, or occupational health inspections for compliance with established policies to identify potential new hazards;
• Familiarity with various monitoring and sampling methods, procedures, and techniques used in collecting and testing related to air, dust, odor, and noise monitoring;
• Experience in developing and supporting an efficient Industrial Hygiene and Safety Management System on behalf of clients’ sites;
• Experience with different facets of IH and EH&S services such as:
• Personal Protective Equipment;
• OSHA Regulations;
• ISO 140001;
• Industrial Hygiene Monitoring and Reporting;
• Ergonomics Evaluations and Reporting;
• Experience in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO);
• Illness and Injury Prevention Plans (IIPP);
• Training on new regulations;
• Extensive experience with process, manufacturing, and/or other industrial facilities;
• Ability to manage multiple clients at any given time without losing focus of quality;
• Experience in dealing with regulatory agencies.

Job Requirements:

• B.S. degree or higher in Public Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry or any other relevant degree from an accredited college/university (minimum GPA of 3.0);
• Well developed technical expertise in IH and Health & Safety rules and regulations;
• Capable of working independently in the field;
• Field experience and ability to travel to client sites;
• Excellent oral and written communications skills;
• Experience in conflict resolution and crisis management;
• Advanced computer applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint);
• Ability to work successfully in team orientated environments;
• CSP, Lead Assessor, CAC, and/or CIH certification are highly desired.
