Job summary

Weber-Knapp seeks a detail-oriented Cost Estimator to prepare cost estimates and engineering documentation for new and revised products.

You will gather data, submit RFQs, obtain tooling quotes, input manufacturing methods into ERP, and generate detailed work instructions. Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD, strong Excel, and Lean manufacturing exposure are preferred; two-year technical or financial degree or equivalent experience required.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical or financial degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience in cost estimating and BOM/Routing input in ERP.
• Experience with SolidWorks/AutoCAD and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Gather/Calculate estimating data for Sales Cost Requests.
• Submit RFQs to Purchasing for new or modified materials.
• Obtain and Review Tooling Quotes from Manufacturing/Tool Engineers.
• Input proposed manufacturing methods into ERP Estimating/Quoting Module.
• Write Engineering Orders for new products and changes to existing products.
• Input of approved BOM and Routing updates to ERP system.
• Preparation of detailed Process Work Instructions.
• Production print generation and revisions using Solidworks.
• Participate in weekly Sales/Engineering Cost/Design Review Meeting.
• Motion and Time Study for Process Rate Determination.
• Actual cost audits.

• Gather/Calculate all estimating data for Sales Cost Requests
• Submit RFQ’s to Purchasing Department for new or modified materials.
• Obtain and Review Tooling Quotes from Manufacturing/Tool Engineers
• Input of proposed manufacturing methods into ERP Estimating/Quoting Module
• Writing Engineering Orders for new products and changes to existing products
• Input of approved BOM and Routing updates to ERP system.
• Preparation of detailed Process Work Instructions
• Production print generation and revisions using Solidworks.
• Participate in weekly Sales/Engineering Cost/Design Review Meeting
• Additional Tasks may include…

• Actual cost versus estimated cost audits

Requirements

Ideal Skills:

• Proficiency using SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word, or related software.
• Solid mechanical aptitude.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing Methods.
• Ability to communicate and work with people at all levels of the office and factory floor.

Required Qualifications :

• Education – Two-year technical or financial degree preferred. Equivalent experience considered.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
