Sanmina Corporation in Houston seeks an Industrial Engineer / Project Coordinator to support a major plant expansion. You will coordinate equipment installations, track timelines, and manage vendor schedules on the shop floor.

This role also provides a flexible engineering resource to assist Process and Manufacturing Engineers when workloads are high, with heavy emphasis on data analysis—tracking costs, cycle times, and waste variances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or similar technical field.
• 0–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or heavy assembly plant (internships or co-op count).
• Basic understanding of manufacturing cost structures, labor routing steps, material waste tracking, and cost variances.
• Ability to work with shop-floor operators, contractors, and senior managers.
• Able to explain technical updates, delays, and financial data clearly, in writing and speaking.
• Comfortable changing priorities quickly to support plant needs.

Responsibilities

• Track Equipment Installations with suppliers and contractors, monitor delivery schedules and installation progress.
• Use Oracle ERP and MES to enter production routes, audit labor hours, and maintain data accuracy.
• Conduct time studies on production floor to compute cycle times and assist with standard labor and machine costs.
• Track waste and rework costs; analyze scrap rates and material waste; investigate root causes to reduce profitability loss.
• Analyze downtime and capacity using MES; categorize reasons for machine stoppages to improve capacity.
• Map workflows and material flow; create process flowcharts and value stream maps using Visio to minimize transit costs and damage.
• Create status reports and decks with capacity metrics and financial variance data for management and customers.
• Support Engineering Changes by updating PFMEA risk assessments and writing SOPs for operators.
