Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in El Segundo, CA seeks an Industrial Engineer (Level 2) or Principal Industrial Engineer (Level 3) to join a diverse team driving manufacturing efficiency and program success.

Responsibilities include planning labor and facility use, cost control, scheduling tools, and data visualization. Must be able to obtain DoD clearance and travel up to 10% across programs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement plans to ensure timely labor availability and facility usage for program delivery and cost milestones
• Conduct cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record studies
• Develop optimized scheduling tools and align SAP/MRP with executable plans under capacity constraints
• Provide capacity planning, shop-loading, and staffing analysis for production teams
• Create metrics and data visualizations to monitor shop floor performance
• Perform time studies and drive action items from findings
• Support multiple product lines and programs as needed
• Improve manufacturing workflow using optimization and simulation methods

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

• Develop and implement plans that ensure timely availability and effective utilization of labor, general facilities & space utilization, equipment, & tooling resources enabling the achievement of program delivery and cost milestones
• Conduct studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems.
• Develops optimized scheduling tools and aligns SAP/MRP systems with an executable plan given various capacity constraints.
• May assist facility engineers in the planning and design of manufacturing areas.
• Provide capacity planning, shop-loading, and staffing analysis for functional production teams.
• Analyze existing operational processes and develop metrics to optimize and improve program & operational performance.
• May be required to support more than one product line and manufacturing area(s), as well as support multiple programs or production managers.
• Creates new metrics and data visualizations to monitor shop floor performance
• Complete time studies and follow through with action items resulting from the study
• Conduct process simulation as requested.

Basic Qualifications for Industrial Engineer (Level 2)

• Bachelor of Science degree with 2 years of Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering experience; OR a Master of Science degree with 0 years of Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering experience
• Experience with data mining, data analysis, or data visualization software applications e.g. Tableau, MS-Excel etc.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOD Security Clearance and special program access
• Ability to travel up to 10%

Basic Qualifications for Principal Industrial Engineer (Level 3)

• Bachelor of Science degree with 5 years of Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering experience; OR a Master of Science degree with 3 years of Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering experience; OR a PhD degree with 0 years of Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering experience.
• Experience with data mining, data analysis, or data visualization software applications e.g. Tableau, MS-Excel etc.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOD Security Clearance and special program access
• Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications

• STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) degree preferred
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment
• At least 2 or more years of demonstrated experience leading project teams
• Experience maintaining and developing SharePoint sites
• Experience performing Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
• Experience with SQL, VBA, or other programming languages
• Experience with improving manufacturing workflow using optimization, modeling, simulation methods or disaggregate event simulation
• Experience with agile methods of project management or development

Salary Ranges

Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

Benefits

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
