Job summary

SMT, Corp. is seeking an Industrial Engineer to design, implement, and optimize systems for quality control and production processes.

The role focuses on driving improvements in capacity, productivity, and on-time delivery while creating visibility into operational performance for leadership. Responsibilities include applying Lean/Six Sigma to reduce waste and cycle times, maintaining capacity models, and partnering with Production Control and Supply Chain to ensure material flow supports

Qualifications

  • Education: B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
  • Experience: 3–5 years in a high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environment (Aerospace, Defense, or Medical Device preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Process Optimization: Analyze manufacturing workflows using Lean/Six Sigma to eliminate waste, reduce cycle times, and increase throughput.
  • Capacity Planning: Develop and maintain capacity models to meet fluctuating demand, identify bottlenecks, and propose equipment or staffing adjustments.
  • OTD & Scheduling: Collaborate with Production Control and Supply Chain to refine scheduling logic to support 100% On-Time Delivery.
  • Operational Visibility: Build real-time dashboards and KPIs to provide visibility into production status, labor efficiency, and equipment utilization.
  • Standards & Compliance: Ensure all process changes comply with AS9120, AS6171, ISO 14001, ITAR, and related requirements.
  • Facility Layout: Optimize floor layout to minimize travel time and improve Chain of Custody (CoC) integrity.
