Industrial Engineer III – Manufacturing Process & Documentation
Our team is assisting an electrical engineering manufacturing company in finding an experienced Industrial Engineer III to support manufacturing operations at its Fairfield, OH facility. This is a hands-on onsite role focused on process improvement, standard work, manufacturing documentation, and training as the facility expands and integrates additional production lines.
The ideal candidate will have a strong Industrial Engineering or Process Engineering background and experience improving manufacturing workflows, developing standard work, and translating processes into practical SOPs and work instructions.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and improve manufacturing, assembly, testing, warehouse, material handling, and inventory processes
- Work directly on the production floor with operators, supervisors, engineers, and subject matter experts
- Develop and maintain SOPs, Standard Work, Job Instructions, OJT materials, process maps, checklists, and visual work instructions
- Document current and improved manufacturing processes and workflows
- Identify process variation, inefficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement
- Support manufacturing line transfers, process changes, and implementation of improved methods
- Incorporate quality checkpoints, safety requirements, process parameters, and critical-to-quality information into documentation
- Support employee onboarding, cross-training, qualification programs, and training matrices
- Conduct floor audits to ensure documented procedures accurately reflect actual manufacturing processes
- Maintain documentation and revision controls as products, equipment, layouts, and processes change
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Continuous Improvement, or a related manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience analyzing and improving manufacturing processes and workflows
- Experience developing SOPs, work instructions, standard work, or manufacturing training materials
- Strong technical writing and process-mapping skills
- Experience working directly with manufacturing operators and technical subject matter experts
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio or similar process-mapping tools
- Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred
- Experience with manufacturing line transfers, new line implementation, or facility expansion
- Electrical, electronics, or engineered-product manufacturing experience
- Experience supporting engineering/process changes
- Experience with 5S, A3, 5 Whys, 8D, or similar improvement methodologies
Assignment Details
- Location: Fairfield, OH
- Work Arrangement: Fully onsite; daily presence required
- Duration: 6 months with possible extension
