Job summary

Timpte in Lincoln, NE is seeking an Industrial Engineer to improve manufacturing operations with a focus on productivity, capacity, labor utilization, material flow and cost. The role develops labor standards, performs time studies, evaluates production systems and identifies opportunities to increase throughput and reduce waste.

The Industrial Engineer will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain and Safety to implement process improvements and support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience with process analysis or continuous improvement responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of time studies, labor standards, capacity planning, and production flow.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to support decisions.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing or other continuous improvement methods is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of plant layout, material flow, line balancing, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with ERP or MRP systems and manufacturing data is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks and 2D drafting software, such as DraftSight or AutoCAD.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and sustain Demand Flow Technology (DFT) principles on the shop floor, including improvements to plant layouts, workstation layouts, material flow, and line balance.
  • Conduct time studies and work measurement activities to establish labor standards and staffing requirements, and create, maintain, and audit manufacturing routings within the ERP system.
  • Support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) by evaluating manufacturing impacts, updating affected routings and process standards, and coordinating implementation on the shop floor.
  • Analyze production methods, workflows, labor utilization, and material flow to improve safety, quality, cost, and throughput on a mixed model line.
  • Develop capacity models and evaluate labor, equipment, and space requirements for current and future production demand.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to reduce waste, cycle time, bottlenecks, work in process, and manufacturing cost.
  • Evaluate opportunities to use artificial intelligence and automation to reduce manual work, improve decision-making, and help the company adapt to changing business needs.
  • Develop and analyze key performance indicators including productivity, efficiency, utilization, throughput, downtime, and capacity.
  • Support new product introductions and process changes by evaluating production readiness, labor requirements, routings, and capacity.
  • Develop business cases and return on investment analyses for equipment, automation, facility, and process improvements while collaborating across departments to standardize processes and sustain results.

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for analyzing and improving manufacturing operations with a focus on productivity, capacity, labor utilization, material flow, and cost.
