Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking an experienced Electrician to install, test, and repair electrical circuits and power distribution systems at the Rochester, NY campus. Responsibilities include maintaining high/low voltage networks and interpreting blueprints for complex installations.

Candidate should have an apprenticeship or equivalent training, 5–6 years of experience, and be able to work long/irregular hours. Safety and compliance with OSHA when performing duties is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of approved electrical apprenticeship or equivalent training/experience.
• 5–6 years experience including apprenticeship.
• Follows safety equipment usage per University guidelines.
• May require valid driver license and the ability to operate vehicles.
• Willingness to work long/irregular hours and be available for call-in duty.

Responsibilities

• Installs, tests and repairs electrical circuits and networks.
• Maintains high and low voltage power systems and control/communication systems.
• Interprets blueprints and wiring diagrams for installations.
• Performs electrical maintenance on elevators, motors, switches and panels.
• Replaces faulty components and performs wiring and installations.
• Works from blueprints and verbal instructions; conducts troubleshooting.
