Job summary

Gerdau North America is hiring an Industrial Electrician to keep our steel manufacturing plant running safely and efficiently. You’ll perform electrical maintenance across a wide range of industrial systems, diagnose issues with motors, PLCs, and drives, and support maintenance and production teams.

The role requires 12-hour rotating shifts (days, nights, and two weekends per month) and a strong background in PLCs, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Competitive benefits start on day one.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to pass a Ramsey electrical exam.
• Strong industrial electrical maintenance skills including PLC and drives experience.
• Basic PLC programming knowledge for troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and blueprint reading.
• Comfortable working at heights.
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts (days, nights, and two weekends per month).

Responsibilities

• Keep plant running safely and efficiently by performing electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work across industrial systems.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and electronic systems (AC/DC motors, PLCs, drives, high-voltage systems ≤480V).
• Perform routine rounds to identify abnormalities and ensure equipment is operating within spec.
• Maintain and repair cranes, mobile equipment, PLC networks, pumps, motors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Lay out, install, and maintain electronically controlled equipment including rolling mill loop controls and distribution centers.
• Balance loads, wire complex circuits, and interpret schematics/blueprints.
• Use diagnostic tools such as digital voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
• Document work performed and support maintenance/production teams with technical expertise.
