Job summary

Interfor in Swainsboro, GA is seeking an Industrial Electrician to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize electrical and control systems powering our sawmill. You will diagnose root causes, perform complex repairs, and support continuous improvement initiatives that boost safety, reliability, and productivity.

Candidates should have PLC, motor drive, and instrumentation experience; a technical degree or 3+ years of industrial maintenance; and a strong commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience or a related technical degree.
• Strong safety focus and policy adherence.
• Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems and automation equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Experience with PLCs, motor controls, drives, and instrumentation.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or call-ins.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

As an Industrial Electrician in Swainsboro, GA, you'll serve as a key technical expert responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing the complex electrical and control systems that power our sawmill operation. We're seeking a highly skilled electrician with strong industrial maintenance experience, advanced diagnostic abilities, and expertise in PLCs, motor controls, drives, instrumentation, and automated manufacturing equipment.

In this role, you'll leverage your technical knowledge to identify root causes, execute complex repairs, improve system reliability, and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, productivity, and operational performance. You'll work alongside a talented maintenance team, tackling challenging electrical issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while helping drive the success of a leading forest products company.

Pay Range & Incentives:

• Pay Range: $28.93 to $40.34 per hour based on skill level and experience.
• $1.25 per hour Night Shift Premium
• Quarterly Gainshare Bonus (performance based)

What You’ll Do

• Perform electrical repair and improvement projects throughout the mill.
• Read and understand electrical schematics, equipment drawings, and blueprints.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance duties.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), AC drives, motors, and other control systems.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical issues to minimize equipment downtime.
• Adhere to an absolute lock-out policy, ensuring equipment is properly isolated before work begins.
• Effectively manage and plan work assignments with minimal direct supervision.
• Submit work requests and complete work orders detailing work performed, parts used, and time required.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum of 3 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience or a technical degree in a related field.
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial electrical systems, controls, and automation equipment.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, motor controls, drives, and electrical distribution systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work in varying seasonal climate conditions.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Manufacturing, sawmill, lumber, or industrial maintenance experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Walking, standing, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work around moving equipment and machinery.
• Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and call-ins as needed.
