Job summary

NEXXTA seeks an experienced Industrial Electrician to support maintenance and reliability of injection molding and manufacturing operations. You will troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain electrical systems, production equipment, and automated controls.

The ideal candidate will hold a Journeyman Electrician license with 5+ years of Journeyman experience, strong PLC troubleshooting skills, and the ability to diagnose electrical faults quickly in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Electrician license strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of Journeyman or Industrial Electrician experience in manufacturing.
• Experience in injection molding/plastics manufacturing preferred.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with PLCs and machine controls, especially Allen‑Bradley systems.
• Ability to read complex electrical schematics and ladder logic.
• Knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose electrical and controls failures using schematics, PLC diagnostics, meters, and tools.
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, I/O, sensors, interlocks, and communications.
• Connect to PLC systems to troubleshoot machine faults and identify root causes.
• Repair and maintain AC/DC electrical systems, 24VDC control circuits, and 480V systems.
• Install/conduct upgrades to electrical panels, motors, drives, and wiring.
• Read and interpret schematics and equipment manuals.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and controls systems.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Electrician to support the maintenance and reliability of our injection molding and manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining industrial electrical systems, production equipment, and automated controls.

The ideal candidate will have a Journeyman Electrician license, at least 5 years of experience working as a Journeyman Electrician, strong PLC troubleshooting experience, and the ability to quickly diagnose electrical and controls-related equipment failures in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The Industrial Electrician will work closely with maintenance technicians, engineers, production personnel, and outside contractors to minimize equipment downtime and improve equipment reliability.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Diagnose electrical and controls-related equipment failures using electrical prints, schematics, PLC diagnostics, meters, and other troubleshooting tools.
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, including inputs, outputs, sensors, interlocks, communications, and control circuits.
• Connect to PLC systems to assist with troubleshooting machine faults and determine the root cause of equipment failures.
• Troubleshoot and repair: AC and DC electrical systems
• 24VDC control circuits
• 120V, 240V, and 480V systems
• Three-phase motors
• Motor starters and contactors
• Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
• Servo motors and servo drives
• Power supplies
• Relays and control circuits
• Perform electrical installations, modifications, and upgrades to manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
• Install and troubleshoot conduit, wiring, disconnects, electrical panels, transformers, motors, and other electrical equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, wiring diagrams, control drawings, and equipment manuals.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and controls systems.

QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS & ABILITIES

Journeyman Electrician license strongly preferred.

5+ years of experience working as a Journeyman or Industrial Electrician in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

Previous experience in an injection molding or plastics manufacturing facility preferred.

Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

Demonstrated experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled machinery.

Experience using PLC software to monitor logic, troubleshoot machine sequences, and diagnose I/O and communication issues.

Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and controls is preferred.

Experience troubleshooting industrial networks and machine communication systems is a plus.

Experience with VFDs, servo systems, robotics, and automated manufacturing equipment.

Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems operating at 480VAC and below.

Ability to safely use multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, and other electrical diagnostic equipment.

Ability to read and understand complex electrical schematics and ladder logic.

Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, Lockout/Tagout, and industrial electrical safety practices.

Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of how electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems interact.
