Job summary

GATX Corporation in Hearne, TX is seeking an EHS Specialist to oversee safety compliance on the 1st shift. You will support the EHS Manager in reducing risk and ensuring effective training and incident management across the site.

The role requires a High school diploma (or better) with EHS experience or railcar repair exposure, and proficiency in MS Office. Occasional travel within the US/Canada may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s or associate degree in Science, Engineering, Operations or related field preferred.
• 1+ years EHS experience in industrial/manufacturing or 4 years in railcar repair with EHS interest.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Basic familiarity with AAR/FRA regulatory requirements preferred.
• Working knowledge of OSHA standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with internal and external H&S requirements on Hearne's 1st shift.
• Support H&S Manager in reducing EHS risk through proactive improvements.
• Assist with safety training and incident management.
• Conduct and oversee safety inspections and daily incident management, investigations and follow-ups.
• Maintain EHS training records and schedule training activities.
• Liaise with security regarding shop security issues.
