Job summary

Kohler Co. on-site in Kohler, WI invites a design-focused professional to lead product concepts from ideation through implementation. You will collaborate across manufacturing, marketing, engineering, and cost to bring design from concept to final launch.

The role emphasizes understanding consumer needs in luxury bath and kitchen settings, staying ahead of trends, and presenting robust design concepts with strong CAD proficiency. On-site four days per week.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university or college of industrial design with academic emphasis on product design.
  • Typically has up to 4 years of experience in interior design, architecture, furniture, lighting, product design, consumer research and/or related field.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and one CAD tool such as Solidworks, Fusion 360, Rhino, Keyshot, Blender, etc. - Video editing, AI visualization tools, and 3D animation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design innovative products from concept through implementation, collaborating across teams to meet deadlines.
  • Present design intent and concepts connected to business needs.
  • Partner with engineering and marketing teams; understand consumer needs in bathroom and kitchen contexts.
  • Stay informed about trends in luxury home products and new technologies for conveyance.
  • Create diverse ideas to inspire meaningful products.
  • Participate in new product development and concept generation activities.
  • Conduct design research, produce concept drawings, physical models, renderings, and presentations.
  • Develop familiarity with materials and processes for Kohler plumbing products.
  • Demonstrate multi-tasking, project management and clear communication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design innovative products and take the designs from concept through implementation working collaboratively, cross-functionally to meet deadlines and deliverables. Including but not limited to:
    • Presenting to convey design intent and concept connected to business need
    • Partnering closely with internal and external teams, including but not limited to engineering and marketing
    • Understand the consumer, especially in bathroom and kitchen settings, so that functional aspects can be considered along with aesthetic needs and cost objectives.
    • Maintain awareness of existing products and products offered by competitor businesses.
    • Stay informed about trends in luxury home products: color, materials, and processes. Includes maintaining knowledge of design software and new technologies to effectively convey design concepts.
    • Create many diverse ideas in order to inspire and stimulate meaningful products.
    • Participate in new product development strategic activities which include generation of new product concepts.
    • Determine appropriate approaches and execute design research, product concept drawings, physical modeling, renderings/visualizations, and product presentations.
    • Develop and maintain familiarity with materials and processes used in the industry and the manufacture of Kohler plumbing products.
    • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, project manage, and communicate (verbal/written).
    • Other duties as assigned.

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
