Job summary

Linton Group in Bala Cynwyd, PA seeks an Industrial Designer to take consumer products from concept to mass production, working with our Product Executives in Pennsylvania and sourcing teams in China. You will own the full development cycle, design with Rhino/SolidWorks/Adobe/KeyShot, and ensure on-time delivery across regions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on industrial design experience with consumer products.
• Exposure to DFM and engineering development beyond design work.
• Able to work with overseas sourcing and manufacturing processes is a strong plus.
• Strong consultative communication skills to explain ideas in a business context.
• Experience leading design and development across multicultural, multi-time-zone teams.
• Onsite daily in Bala Cynwyd, PA; portfolio showing concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Own the full new product development cycle across a diverse portfolio from ideation to prototyping.
• Deliver industrial design work using Rhino, SolidWorks, Adobe CC, KeyShot and related tools.
• Drive the NPD process, managing timelines, target costing, and prototype quality at reviews.
• Coordinate with sales, overseas project management and sourcing to keep projects moving.
• Link China PM team with U.S. sales as projects transition to mass production.
• Join client meetings with Product Executives and build development decks for concept reviews.
• Lead calls with overseas manufacturers to test ideas, troubleshoot issues, and review prototypes.

This is a hands‑on design role with real ownership: you’ll take consumer products from first sketch through prototyping and into mass production, working shoulder‑to‑shoulder with our Product Executive team here in Pennsylvania and our project management and sourcing teams in China.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the full new product development cycle across a diverse portfolio of consumer categories — from ideation and concept design through engineering, DFM, and prototyping
• Deliver industrial design work for both internal Product Executives and external clients using Rhino, SolidWorks, Adobe Creative Cloud, KeyShot, and related design and rendering tools
• Drive the NPD process internally, taking accountability for development timelines, target costing, and prototype quality at every review gate
• Partner cross‑functionally with our sales team and our overseas project management and sourcing teams to keep projects moving and decisions unblocked
• Serve as the critical link between our China project management team and our U.S. sales team as projects transition into mass production, ensuring nothing is lost in translation
• Join Product Executives in client meetings and build the development decks that bring concepts, engineering trade-offs, and product direction to life for the client
• Lead calls with overseas manufacturers to pressure‑test product ideas, troubleshoot development issues, and review prototypes

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands‑on industrial design experience with consumer products
• Demonstrated experience contributing to DFM and engineering development, not design work alone
• Exposure to overseas sourcing and manufacturing processes is a strong plus
• Strong consultative communication skills — active listening, and the ability to structure and explain sophisticated product ideas within their business context
• Proven ability to lead design and development processes across multicultural, multi‑time‑zone teams
• Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to move multiple projects forward simultaneously
• Professional fluency in both English and Mandarin, as this role presents, explains, strategizes, and negotiates daily with teams in the U.S. and China
• Must be willing and able to work onsite daily in Bala Cynwyd, PA (this is not a remote or hybrid role)
• A portfolio demonstrating consumer products you’ve taken from concept to production
