Job summary

Workforce Solutions is partnering with a family-owned manufacturing company in Madison, WI to hire a Design Engineer. You will own the full design lifecycle from concept through production handoff, delivering shop-ready designs and documentation.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in a manufacturing or fabrication setting, strong AutoCAD skills, and experience with 3D modeling tools such as Blender. On-site role with typical daytime hours.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD; ability to produce clear, accurate technical drawings.
• Ability to create and maintain BOMs for production.
• Self-starter who can manage projects with minimal oversight.
• Strong organizational and file management skills.
• Clear communication to explain technical concepts to cross-functional teams.
• ERP experience with Odoo is a plus.
• 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, design, or fabrication preferred.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer needs into design concepts, from initial sketches to detailed models.
• Create 3D models, technical drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) for production.
• Manage design projects including file organization, version control, and documentation.

What's the role?

We are looking for a practical, creative designer who can take ideas from concept to production-ready execution with minimal oversight. This role offers ownership of the full design lifecycle-from initial concept through modeling, documentation, and production handoff. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys seeing their work come to life and thrives in a collaborative, hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities Include

What experience and skills do I need to be successful?
