Job summary

Tyson Foods, Inc. is seeking a Development Engineer II to design, build, support, and troubleshoot applications interfacing with industrial platforms and databases. The role balances medium-to-high complexity software development with hands-on problem solving across plant-floor interfaces and IT collaboration.

You will work with IT teams to resolve incidents, improve reliability, and ensure secure, scalable software solutions for production systems and analytics requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 1+ year of relevant or practical software development experience.
• Experience supporting production systems in operational or industrial environments.
• Proficiency in at least two programming languages or software development tools.
• Experience with SQL Server and MySQL in production environments.
• Familiarity with data engineering concepts, DevOps, CI/CD, and version control.
• Understanding of industrial data systems, hardware-integrated applications, or plant-floor technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, debug, and maintain applications using appropriate programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
• Deliver medium to high-complexity development or automation tasks as part of a collaborative team.
• Develop and maintain SQL Server and MySQL-backed features, including tables, views, procedures, and functions.
• Design data models that support real-time operational needs and analytics.
• Perform unit and integration testing and participate in peer code reviews.
• Maintain and enhance existing codebases with focus on reliability and performance.
