Qualifications

Job description

The Industrial Counter Sales Associate supports daily branch operations by providing exceptional customer service, processing counter and phone/electronic sales, handling inventory, and preparing products for delivery or shipment. This role operates in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented industrial distribution environment.

Primary

• Deliver high‑quality customer service while adhering to company ethics and standards.
• Respond promptly to customer inquiries, orders, and complaints using effective problem‑solving skills.
• Provide accurate product and technical information to support customer needs.
• Process sales transactions and maintain accurate documentation and records.
• Estimate delivery timelines based on inventory levels, supplier availability, and production schedules.
• Conduct outbound follow‑ups with potential and existing customers via phone and email.
• Receive, inspect, and stock incoming products; ensure accuracy and quality.
• Pick, package, stage, and ship products using company‑approved methods and carriers.
• Support inventory management, including cycle counts and quality control.
• Perform assembly and light fabrication work, including hose building and operation of related equipment.
• Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment in compliance with safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Participate in required training and collaborate with internal teams as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education & Work Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in industrial distribution or hydraulic hose and fittings preferred (Parker Hannifin experience a plus).
• Mechanical aptitude and forklift certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities can be achieved through a combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Good customer service and communication skills are required.
• Basic computer skills including use of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), with a willingness to learn new software programs. Experience with Epicor Prophet 21 a plus.
• The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide required.
• Detail oriented with solid organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multi‑task in a fast‑paced work environment.
• Must be a good listener with above average reasoning ability and make minimal mistakes.
• Must be a good learner who can assimilate product knowledge and skills as they are presented.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and customer service
• Must be able to work with a wide variety of people and personalities.
