Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Chattanooga, TN is seeking an Industrial Control Technician to install, maintain and troubleshoot control and instrumentation systems across our plant. This role supports safety and efficiency in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift.

You will read schematics, calibrate equipment, and collaborate with engineering and production teams to keep operations running smoothly. A relevant associate degree and hands-on PLC familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with control systems installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Hands-on diagnostic skills with instrumentation and PLCs.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot control and instrumentation systems.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
• Diagnose and repair faults in complex control systems using specialized diagnostic equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure smooth plant operations.
• Read and interpret circuit diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
• Calibrate equipment to ensure accurate measurements and operations.
• Update and modify control systems to improve efficiency and safety.
• Document all activities for compliance and auditing purposes.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Provide technical assistance and training to other team members.

Pay: $40.75

• Skills: Proficiency in control theory, electrical and mechanical systems, and the ability to read and understand electrical wiring diagrams.
• Experience: Hands-on experience with control systems, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as PLC, HVAC, or ISA may be required or preferred.
