Job summary

Calca Solutions seeks a Chemical Plant and Systems Operator to monitor instruments, control processes, and perform routine data recordings in a plant environment. You will draw samples, respond to emergencies, and manage transfers between tanks and storage containers.

The role requires 3+ years of operations experience or an Associate’s degree in Process Technology, with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and teamwork in a production setting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years operations related experience in a plant/manufacturing environment OR
• Associate’s degree in Process Technology

Responsibilities

• Monitor recording instruments, flowmeters, and level indicators
• Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines
• Record operating data such as test results and flow readings
• Confers with technical and supervisory personnel to report or resolve conditions affecting safety, efficiency, and product quality
• Draw samples of products to send to the laboratory for testing
• Regulate or shut down equipment during emergency situations, as directed by supervisory personnel
• Start and stop pumps
• Environmental sampling and log sheet rounds
• Line up valves from specified tanks to make transfers
• Patrol work areas to ensure that solutions in tanks are not in danger of overflowing
• Inspect operating scrubber flows
• Engage in operating machinery that regulates the flow of materials and products
• Turn valves to regulate flow of products to tanks, storage drums, tote bins, bulk trailers, cylinders or isotainers
• Transferring flammable and corrosive propellant from drums, cylinders, bulk storage tanks, and bulk trailers
• Manage waste materials in accordance with BMP’s and environmental procedures
• Calculate material requirements or yields according to formulas
• Gauge tank levels
• Maintain a written log of shift activities, as required
• Load & unload tank trucks, tank cars, portable containers, etc.
• Climb ladders and stairways, as necessary
