Job summary

Atlas Copco Specialty Rental Division North America in Aledo, TX is seeking a Boiler Test Fire Technician to prepare, set up and perform test fires on rental boilers and related equipment, ensuring units meet safety, performance, and emissions standards before deployment.

You will collaborate with operations, service and quality teams, document pressures, temperatures and data, and uphold NFPA and ASME safety protocols while maintaining fleet readiness.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of experience in industrial manufacturing, rental equipment, maintenance, or boiler operation.
• High school diploma or GED; trade/technical training in boilers or HVAC preferred.
• Experience with burners, temporary boilers, or industrial combustion systems.
• Speciality Rental industry experience (Steam, air, power, or temperature control) is a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; able to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, and drawings.
• Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Report into the workshop service supervisor.
• Set up rental boilers, burners, fuel systems, piping, and controls for test fire.
• Perform controlled test fires to verify operations, combustion efficiency, and safety system functionality.
• Record pressures, temperatures, emissions, and performance data for each unit.
• Evaluate boiler condition and readiness as part of fleet maintenance.
• Identify and coordinate repairs with technicians.
• Follow all safety protocols for combustion testing and pressurized systems.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA, ASME, SOPs and customer safety requirements.
