Job summary

3M Cordova is seeking a Boiler Operator – Building Engineer to maintain boiler and building systems, including mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, and HVAC at an on-site industrial facility in Cordova, IL.

The role supports preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and inspections with rotating day and night 12-hour shifts. Candidates should have 4–5 years of boiler operation experience and a relevant certification/licensing preference.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma, GED, or trade school diploma.
• 4–5 years of related boiler operation experience.
• Universal CFC certification preferred; Boiler Operator license preferred.
• CMMS experience is beneficial.
• Strong math and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn and become familiar with all processes of the plant.
• Operate Client Computer Control System for the plant.
• Perform startup, maintenance and shutdown procedures for all plant units.
• Maintain water chemistry and water supply to plant and boiler.
• Handle maintenance tasks and respond to safety concerns.
• Log timely and accurate duties performed.
• Respond to data and optimize equipment performance.
• Ensure safety compliance and report issues to supervisors.
