Overview

Industrial Automation Field Service Technician – based in Denver, CO. You will provide on‑site services to support process and discrete manufacturing operations, evaluating automation hardware/software, troubleshooting systems, and identifying modernization opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, modify and troubleshoot programs in modern, tag‑based PLC environments across major automation platforms.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of data types, structures, UDTs, arrays and aliasing to build scalable, maintainable automation logic.
  • Design and organize program architecture using modular, structured programming practices (e.g., routines, function blocks, state logic, reusable code modules).
  • Implement best practices for code readability, version control and documentation to support long‑term system reliability.
  • Diagnose logic, communication and I/O issues using online monitoring, data tracing and system diagnostics tools.
  • Represent Rexel while performing services on mission‑critical customer equipment and applications.
  • Develop relationships with key customer stakeholders and present findings to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Articulate the value of services offerings throughout the engagement lifecycle.
  • Work with customers to identify opportunities for products and services beyond the original scope.
  • Document work activities in a professional report format and assist in clarifying and resolving customer issues.
  • Communicate needs and issues with management to prevent problems before they arise.
  • Manage time to avoid scheduling conflicts and work positively in a team‑based environment.
  • Execute documented procedures on‑site and perform site‑walk inspections for data collection.
  • Demonstrate core competency around troubleshooting Rockwell Automation products and related manufacturing technology.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

What You’ll Need

  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of industrial lockout‑tagout and Arc Flash standards.
  • Experience with industrial control systems (PLC, HMI/SCADA, plant historian, motion control, etc.), preferably Rockwell or comparable platforms.
  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree preferred; Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in Engineering or Technology and other related technology‑driven degrees preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of safe work practices, including PPE usage.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently and adapt to changing demands.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and analytical problem‑solving.
  • Reading of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and P&IDs.
  • Solid grasp of AC/DC circuits, relays, sensors, solenoids, motors and drives.
  • Proficiency with multimeters, clamp meters, oscilloscopes and signal testers.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical safety standards (LOTO, NFPA 70E).
  • Time‑management skills and ability to balance multiple job engagements.
  • Capacity to gather data for future project scope development and to support sales initiatives.
  • Responsiveness to support requests and continuous improvement mindset.
