Job summary

Turkey Hill Dairy LLC is seeking a Refrigeration Mechanic I to install, maintain, and repair industrial systems including refrigeration, boilers, plumbing, and related equipment in a fast-paced production environment.

You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and test systems, while ensuring compliance with GMP, safety standards, and quality controls. Overtime including weekends may be required to meet manufacturing needs.

Qualifications

  • Ammonia/NH3 experience is a plus (Ammonia Operator 1 or RETA).
  • Must work in a team environment.
  • Perform GMP and safety guidelines at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair industrial refrigeration, boiler, plumbing, fire protection, compressed air, heating, water treatment, and related systems according to blueprints and specs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and system testing with appropriate tools; replace defective components as needed.
  • Assemble, align, and install piping, valves, pumps, compressors, controls, motors, and related components; start up and monitor systems for proper performance.
  • Operate and maintain boilers and auxiliary equipment; conduct fire pump testing and respond to alarms and variances.
  • Maintain labeling, documentation, and purchase requisitions; support equipment cleaning and sanitation activities.

Job description

The Refrigeration Mechanic I makes an impact by

  • Install, maintain, and repair industrial refrigeration, boiler, plumbing, fire protection, compressed air, heating, water treatment, and related systems in accordance with blueprints, engineering specifications, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, diagnostics, and system testing using appropriate electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic tools and equipment; replace or adjust defective components as needed.
  • Assemble, align, and install piping, valves, pumps, compressors, controls, motors, and related components; start up, shut down, evacuate, recharge, and monitor systems to ensure proper pressure, temperature, and performance.
  • Operate and maintain boilers and auxiliary equipment, conduct fire pump testing, monitor system readings, and respond appropriately to alarms and performance variances.
  • Maintain labeling, complete required documentation and purchase requisitions, and support equipment cleaning and sanitation activities.
  • Maintain required certifications (including respirator/mask qualification) and comply with all safety, GMP, SQF, regulatory, and company standards to ensure the production of safe, quality food.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency.
  • Work overtime, including weekends, as required to meet manufacturing needs.

  • The employee is required to talk and/or hear in a manufacturing setting where noise levels are high (PPE required).
  • The employee is required to wear mandated PPE based on assigned job area.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an manufacturing environment for 8+ hours.
  • The employee must be able to ascend and descend stairs, and where applicable and when necessary, to perform various job-related tasks.
  • Must be able to position self to move, reach with arms/hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed to perform various job-related tasks.
  • The employee must be able to inspect all job-related equipment (office or floor) to ensure it is in good working condition prior to use. Must be able to use hands/fingers to handle (or feel) to operate various types of office equipment.
  • Must be able to operate all job-related equipment (powered, hand or office) as required.
  • Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and adjust focus.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and/or push/pull 50 pounds on a regular basis.
