Job summary

Sahuarita Unified School District is seeking an Indoor Percussion coach for Sahuarita High School to organize and promote a comprehensive program. The role focuses on developing students' musical, technical, and performance skills, fostering teamwork, discipline, and leadership, while preparing for rehearsals, competitions, performances, and community events.

The position requires evening/weekend work during competition season, a valid fingerprint clearance, and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor's degree in music education, percussion performance, or related field preferred.
• Experience performing in, instructing, or directing indoor percussion, marching band, drumline, or related ensembles preferred.
• Experience working with high school-aged students preferred.
• Valid fingerprint clearance card and completion of all district-required background checks.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during competition season.
• Valid CPR Certificate

Responsibilities

• Communicate policies of the team to participants, the school, and the School Board.
• Submit forms required by the school (eligibility rosters, players' addresses, etc.).
• Public relations and publicity for the program.
• Establish procedures for communicating with parents/guardians.
• Plan, organize, and implement teaching of fundamentals, strategies, rules, and conditioning.
• Provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship.
• Compile and maintain accurate individual and team performance records.
• Participate in awards programs according to school procedure.
• Ensure adequate supervision for all students involved in the program.
• Provide for safety by inspecting facilities and equipment and noting environmental conditions.
• Issue, collect, inventory, and store equipment per department guidelines.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Band Director.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

To organize, coordinate and promote a comprehensive athletic programin the assigned sport that is designed to meet the needs and interests of the school community. The coach develops students' musical, technical, and performance skills while fostering teamwork, discipline, leadership, and a positive learning environment. The position includes preparation for rehearsals, competitions, performances, and community events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Communicate to all participants the policies of the team, local school, and School Board relating to school sponsored activities.
• Submit forms as required by the school (i.e., eligibility rosters, players' addresses, etc.)
• Be responsible for public relations and publicity for the assigned program;
