Job description

The Individualized Education Program (IEP) Coordinator oversees the coordination and compliance of IEP for preschool aged children with disabilities. The coordinator ensures high quality special education services and facilitates collaboration between families, school districts, educators, therapists and service providers related to IEP implementation and maintenance. The coordinator serves as the liaison between school districts' special education committees, the counties and our school sites.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as the primary contact for all matters pertaining to IEP development, implementation and review for children in the early education program at all sites.
  • Schedules and facilitates IEP meetings in accordance with stipulated timeframes. Monitors and tracks timeframes compliance for compliance-related and quality data, audits and/or reports.
  • Ensures IEPS are developed with appropriate goals, accommodations, and services aligned with the child's needs and in compliance with all regulations.
  • Maintains, accurate and timely documentation and record retention.
  • Collaborates with teachers, therapists, psychologists, administrators, school districts, parents/teachers and other service providers to implement IEPs effectively. Supports referrals, evaluations and coordination with psychologists and assessment teams.
  • Communicates regularly with parents/families to support an understanding of the IEP process and ensure parent/family participation.
  • Coordinates services with external agencies (school districts, early intervention, etc.) and assists in the development of transition plans (early intervention to preschool and preschool to kindergarten)
  • Monitors implementation of student progress towards IEP goals and discusses with team any barriers to goal progression. Supports the classroom teams in adapting curriculum and instruction to meet the child's needs.
  • Provides education and training to the team on policies, procedures and best practice related to IEP and annual review procedures.
  • Manages all aspects of Frontline: including but not limited to student assignments, demographic updates, progress reports, and requesting corrections from districts.
  • Creates, maintains, and distributes annual review meetings for districts.
  • Participates in all Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) annual review, program review, and initial evaluation meetings for sites.
  • Participates in reading annual review reports and following up for corrections.
  • Reviews all progress notes before dissemination.
  • Conducts tours for new families and determines acceptance and placement of new students.
  • Creates and maintains the roster for all sites.
  • Other assigned duties as required.
Experience

Educator with five years' experience working with children with developmental disabilities. Knowledge of surrounding community, county and state level regulations, and school district systems is preferred.

EDUCATION

Educator with M.S. Ed in Special Education or Clinician (School Psychologist, NYS Licensed OT, PT, SLP, SW)

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
  • NYS License in Special Education or
  • NYS license in Physical Therapy or
  • NYS license in Occupational Therapy or
  • NYS license in Speech Language pathology and NYSED teacher of students with speech language disabilities certification (TSSLD) or
  • NYS license in School Psychology or
  • NYS license in clinical/masters social work
