Your Day as an Individual Support Worker

As a Part‑Time Individual Support Worker at Owen Health Care, you will play a pivotal role in assisting behavioral therapists to create effective behavioral therapy programs tailored to children and adolescents. Your responsibilities include:

• Implementing individualized service plans and providing behavioral interventions in home and community settings.
• Actively managing youth with behavioral challenges and ensuring a safe, supportive environment.
• Monitoring and documenting observations of youth behavior to adjust daily activities in line with therapeutic goals.
• Developing and implementing engaging recreational activities that support emotional and social growth.
• Initiating and maintaining safety standards while instructing youth on positive behavioral practices.

Qualifications

To excel as an Individual Support Worker you must possess:

• Either a college degree with one year of experience or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of three years of supervised experience in implementing positive behavior support plans and teaching ADL/Instrumental skills to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with children and their families.
• The ability to work independently while following established protocols and guidelines.
• Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting children and adolescents.
• Prior experience in behavioral interventions and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
