Organizational context: The Department of Global Communications (DGC), Graphic Design Unit, provides essential graphic design services for UN campaigns, conferences, and publications. This role supports the unit's efforts to maintain brand identity, update guidelines, and ensure consistent, high-quality visual communications across the organization, addressing increased workload and operational pressures.

Job purpose: This role is to support the finalization of UN Brand Guidelines, develop additional UN-branded templates and systems, and create an online platform for stakeholders. The purpose is to ensure continuity in project delivery amidst capacity constraints by developing key UN brand resources. This includes creating an accessible online version of the UN Brand Book, a comprehensive illustration design system, and editable Microsoft Word templates for various communication products, all while maintaining visual consistency and alignment with the UN's established brand identity.

Responsibilities: Develop an online version of the UN Brand Book, adapting existing guidelines for a digital environment with relevant visual and interactive content, including graphics and animations. Create a comprehensive design system for illustrations to establish a consistent visual approach and provide practical guidance. Develop a range of editable Microsoft Word templates for reports, fact sheets, and stationery, adapting existing designs for ease of use and compatibility. Ensure all outputs are visually consistent, accessible, and aligned with the UN brand identity. Work closely with the designated team, incorporate feedback, and deliver outputs according to requirements, timelines, and quality standards.

Education: A first-level university degree or equivalent in branding, web design, illustration, or graphic design is required. Alternatively, relevant professional experience in these fields is acceptable. No specific certifications are mentioned as mandatory.

Work experience: A minimum of five years of experience in brand development, design systems for large organizations, graphic design, illustration, animation, or web design and development is required. Experience in developing brand identity design systems, creating websites for brand identity, and using Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft 365 applications for template creation is also required. Experience with Drupal is required.
