Job summary

The Individual Care Aide supports teachers and assists students within classrooms and across the facility. The role helps implement the educational program and acts as a student advocate, contributing to goal achievement and overall student success.

Work days total 177 with a schedule of 7.25 hours per day; pay range is $18.04–$24.04 per hour based on experience, with IMRF benefits and board paid. IL paraprofessional license preferred and minimum age 19.

Job Title: Individual Care Aide (Multiple positions available)

Reports To: Principal/Executive Director of Student Services

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work Days: 177 days. Anticipated work schedule is 7.25 hours per day (times vary by location)

Rate of Pay: Pay Range is $18.04-24.04 per hour (based on experience). Benefits and board paid IMRF available.

JOB SUMMARY

The job goal is to improve the quality of services provided to students and act as a student advocate by assisting the teacher in implementing all aspects of the educational program, to assist students to meet goals. This position is responsible for assisting the teacher by working with assigned students in classrooms and throughout the facility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid IL paraprofessional license is preferred.
• Associate's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education; completed 60 semester hours of college credit at a regionally accredited institution of higher education; HS Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Parapro; or HS Diploma or GED and passing scores on the ACT Workkeys is preferred.
• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Requires employee to have the ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Individual care aides assist teachers in presenting lessons that demonstrate an understanding and use of a variety of instructional strategies, questioning techniques, and resources that promote student learning and encourage students' development of basic skills, critical thinking, and problem solving. OTHER

The building administrator in cooperation with special education administrators are directly responsible for the administration of the evaluation system and will incorporate input from the assigned teacher(s). An evaluation report will be completed at least two times during the first year of employment and annually thereafter. The evaluation will include an observation and a conference with the employee to discuss the written evaluation.
