Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Project Field Engineer to join LNG and other energy-related projects across the US Gulf Coast. The role focuses on field engineering support, work planning, material control, quality, safety, and turnover coordination with multiple trades.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and 2–5 years of relevantexperience, or more, and may be required to relocate or travel to varied US locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 2–5 years of relevantexperience or 6–9 years of relevant work experience.
• Direct hire experience in LNG/facilities projects preferred.
• Familiarity with Bechtel work processes and BSAPs is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist the PFE with field engineering programs and document control.
• Develop detailed installation plans and ensure alignment with schedules.
• Generate and verify field cost forecasts and material requisitions.
• Conduct quality inspections and support system turnover.
• Coordinate with multiple trades (Civil/Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, Marine).
• Support in ITP development and front-end scoping of work packages.

• Work Location: Various Work Locations USA, Brownsville, TX, Lake Charles,LA, Port Arthur, TX

Project Overview:

The selected candidate will initially be placed on one of our four Liquefied Natural Gas Plant Projects in the US Gulf Coast Region for our Energy Global Business Unit, but we may also require the selected candidate to have future mobility to one of our other Global Business Units in a different location. The ideal candidate will have market sector/ sub sector construction industry experience in energy (liquefied natural gas), manufacturing and technology (semiconductor, chemical, pharmaceutical, data centers, fire power generation), infrastructure (aviation, rail, roads/bridges), mining and minerals (water treatment plant, mineral extraction, metal refining), & nuclear, security, and environmental (nuclear power epc, power distribution, combined cycle, defense and space, environmental cleanup). As needs arise in our growing business, there will be expectation for the candidate to be fully mobile.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will provide project field engineering support with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover. Your work will contribute to ensuring field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-BH1

Major Responsibilities:

• Assist the PFE in the establishment, implementation and maintenance of various field engineering and construction programs
• Maintain project document control and ensure all work activities are executed using the latest versions of relevant documents
• Work with the area and discipline superintendents to develop detailed, integrated installation plans for complex, cross discipline installations
• Ensure that work package generation by field engineers supports the construction schedule
• Prioritize work for the multi-discipline team of field engineers within the assigned area (Civil/Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation and Marine) and provide day to day direction and supervision
• Work with Area superintendent to ensure that quantities are reported, verified and submitted for all commodities each week Assist with the development and implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITP's)
• Perform quality control inspections of completed work and generate associated documentation
• Ensure that all project quality requirements are understood and adhered to Liaise with the design engineering group and provide support to resolve design and constructability issues
• Assist subordinate responsible field engineers within generation of Field Change Documentation Develop the technical sections of field subcontracts
• Work with supervision to perform front-end work package scoping
• Develop construction progress reports and quantity forecasts
• Ensure that field engineers complete required material requisitions to ensure that material deliveries support scheduled activities and complete material receipt inspections
• Monitor field costs and assist in cost forecasts
• Assist in the preparation and updating of construction schedules Ensure correct preparation of applicable as-built documents and inspections required by the contract
• Perform system/area turnovers Conduct annual goal setting/performance reviews and quarterly feedback discussion with assigned field engineers

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Typically requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevantexperience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Direct Hire Experience, preferable in a lump-sum environment.
• Experience in the design and/or construction of LNG facilities is preferred.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
• Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures is preferred.
• Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) including Unifier, Aconex, DSCS, PTR, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects is an asset.
• Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards. Excellent communication and problem solving ability.

Additional Information:

Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
