Job summary

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. in Plano, TX seeks an experienced indirect tax leader to oversee multi-state Sales & Use Tax compliance, audits and tax planning. You will drive tax strategy and partner with Finance, Legal and Operations to optimize processes.

You will work with Vertex, SAP and Alteryx to modernize tax data and support regulatory updates for the United States and Canada, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in filings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• Minimum 5 years indirect tax compliance and planning; managerial experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of US sales and use tax and Canada GST/HST.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file Sales & Use Tax, Gross Receipts/CAT, and other taxes across states and regions.
• Maintain Vertex tax engine data in an on-premise setup and ensure correct mapping.
• Prepare supports for tax audits and reviews to address compliance gaps.
• Manage use tax accruals for marketing expenses, FOC, and gifts.
• Maintain resale certificates/tax exemptions in SAP Hybris and Sprinklr.
• Handle 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC filings and reporting.
• Oversee unclaimed property filings with a third-party provider.
• Coordinate indirect tax registrations in new jurisdictions.
• Ensure compliance with state/local tax laws and assist with new taxes/fees.
• Manage samsung.com and other eCommerce platforms for sales tax issues.
• Take indirect tax lead role on new company projects; ensure proper planning before go-live.
• Drive process improvements using Alteryx and AI tools.
• Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service and AR/AP on Vertex items.
