Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in accounting or business concentration with 1–5 years of related experience.

• Good knowledge of US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
• Strong systems orientation; Oracle Cloud ERP knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate actively in month-end close by preparing monthly journal entries and reporting documents.
• Prepare balance sheet accounts and supporting documentation.
• Handle Indirect Tax work including audit engagements, escheatment, property tax and sales/use tax filings.
• Maintain superior customer service relationships with sites and stakeholders.
• Review monthly reports and analyses for internal and external management and audit groups.
• Take initiative to improve processes and complete complex journal entries or reconciliations.

Position Overview

TEGNA is looking for an Indirect Tax Accountant to join our team at the NSSC . Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, review of general ledger transactions, complex balance sheet reconciliations, assistance with Fixed Asset work, preparation of Indirect Tax work and financial reports for TEGNA business units. The role requires strong problem solving, analytical and organizational skills. Has experience in commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within financial reporting and accounting. Utilizes good judgment in maintaining essential job functions through planning, analysis and follow up. Takes initiative on tasks that will result in operational efficiencies. This is a hybrid position.

Responsibilities

• Participate actively in month-end close process by preparing monthly journal entries and reporting documents for TEGNA business units.


• Prepare balance sheet accounts and their supporting documentation.


• Preparation of Indirect Tax work will include Audit Engagement/Resolution, Escheatment/Unclaimed Property, Real and Personal Property Tax Filing/Payments and Sales/Use Tax Filing/Payments


• Establish and maintain a superior customer service relationship with the sites.


• Review various monthly reports and analysis for internal and external management and audit groups.


• Utilize good judgment in maintaining essential job functions through planning, analysis and follow up.


• Take initiative on tasks that will result in operational efficiencies.


• Perform other duties as required, including special projects and potentially complete more complex Journal Entries or Balance Sheet Reconciliations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree is preferred in accounting or business-related concentration with 1-5 years of related experience.


• Good problem solving, organizational and time management skills. Analytical and detailed oriented.


• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with emphasis on superior customer service.


• Good knowledge of US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.


• Strong systems orientation, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.


• Oracle Cloud ERP general ledger knowledge preferred.


• Shared service experience a plus.
