Job summary

CPS, Inc. in Alpharetta, GA is seeking an experienced Indirect Procurement Category Manager to lead enterprise-wide sourcing for electricity, natural gas, renewables, utilities and industrial gases across a global manufacturing network.

You will develop energy strategies, manage hedging and supplier relationships, and collaborate with Operations, Finance and Engineering to optimize cost, reliability and sustainability.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in energy procurement and strategic sourcing.
• Experience with natural gas and electricity procurement for multi-site operations.
• Knowledge of hedging, forecasting, budgeting and market analysis.
• Experience with large-scale utility and industrial gas sourcing.
• Strong analytical, financial modeling, negotiation and stakeholder skills.
• Advanced Excel and Power BI; ERP and energy risk systems experience.
• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA/JD Edwards/SAP Fiori; NA/Europe procurement preferred.
• Experience in chemical/industrial sectors is a plus.
• CPSM, CPM, CEM or related certification is a plus.

Indirect Procurement Category Manager - Utilities, Energy & Industrial Gases

Location: Hybrid - Alpharetta, GA

A global manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Indirect Procurement Category Manager to lead enterprise-wide sourcing strategies for electricity, natural gas, renewable energy, utilities, and industrial gases across a global manufacturing network.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute short- and long-term energy and utilities sourcing strategies across multiple sites and geographic regions.
• Lead competitive sourcing, contract negotiations, supplier selection, and energy purchasing strategies, including fixed-price, index-based, layered purchasing, and hedging approaches.
• Monitor energy markets, pricing, regulations, and supply risks; provide market intelligence and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Manage energy forecasting, budgeting, consumption models, cost projections, savings, and risk management.
• Develop and manage demand response, energy optimization, and sustainability initiatives.
• Lead strategic sourcing for industrial gases, including nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, CO , specialty gases, bulk systems, and related services.
• Manage strategic supplier relationships, performance reviews, scorecards, negotiations, contracts, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with Operations, Manufacturing, Finance, Engineering, and other stakeholders to ensure supply reliability and optimize costs.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in energy procurement, utility sourcing, category management, strategic sourcing, energy marketing, or related commercial roles.
• Demonstrated expertise with natural gas and electricity procurement in industrial/manufacturing environments for multiple facilities on a global scale
• Experience with energy hedging/risk management, utility contracts, energy forecasting, budgeting, and market analysis.
• Experience managing large-scale utility and industrial gas sourcing initiatives.
• Strong analytical, financial modeling, negotiation, supplier management, and stakeholder communication skills.
• Advanced Excel and Power BI skills; experience with ERP and energy market/risk management systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, Energy Management, Economics, or related field preferred.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA, JD Edwards, SAP Fiori, and energy procurement across North America and Europe is preferred.
• Experience in chemical, industrial, forest products, building products, or process manufacturing is a plus.
• CPSM, CPM, CEM, or related certification is a plus.
