Job summary

Associates in Pediatric Therapy is seeking a compassionate therapist to evaluate and treat children ages birth to 3 in natural environments. You will collaborate with caregivers to create individualized service plans, ensuring each child thrives through tailored support.

Qualifications

  • First-year developmental therapists must enroll at the associate level and receive supervision.

What You’ll Do
  • Evaluate and provide treatment for pediatric patients between birth and 3 years with needs in physical, social‑emotional, self‑help, communication, and cognitive development.
  • Work primarily in children’s natural environments (homes, daycares, community centers) with opportunities to work in other APT offices and contract locations depending on the counties/areas served.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements
  • Treat children from birth to age 3 for cognitive and social interaction skills to achieve the highest level of functioning and to prevent regression.
  • Collaborate closely with patients’ caregivers and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) through a Coaching Model.
  • Accurately document treatment sessions, progress, and evaluation reports in detail.
  • Maintain professional and technical competencies and uphold federal/state licensure and ethical expectations.
Requirements
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in early childhood or special education (with an early childhood focus). A bachelor’s degree in communication disorders (including speech and language) may be considered for a more specific communication‑focused role.
  • Related degrees may be considered if at least 15 hours of academic coursework related to child development is completed.
  • Preferred: At least one year of experience providing Part C early intervention services (early childhood specialist).
  • Ability to travel to homes, daycares, and other community settings within the service area.
  • Adaptability to the needs of patients and caregivers within their natural environments.
  • Flexibility with patients and the ability to reschedule as needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • First‑year developmental therapists with no prior Part C early intervention experience must enroll at the associate level (DT‑A) and receive one year of supervision to ensure professional competency.
  • After one year of supervision, DT‑A may request enrollment as DT‑EC or DT‑C.
