Job summary

Northern Lights Locating & Inspection, Inc. is seeking an experienced Utility Locator for the Grayslake, IL area. You will locate underground utilities, interpret maps and GIS data, and mark utilities with paint and flags while operating electronic locating equipment.

The role requires 2+ years of locating experience, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to work in all weather and overtime. On-call rotation and independent work within a defined territory are part of the job.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of 811 laws and best locate practices.
• Ability to read maps, as-builts, and GIS data.
• Able to pass a drug screen and work overtime as needed.
• Willingness to work in all weather and maintain equipment.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities in compliance with 811 dig laws.
• Read and interpret utility maps, as-built drawings, and GIS data.
• Use electronic locating equipment and multiple locating methods.
• Accurately mark utilities using paint and flags.
• Document all work using a mobile app including photos and reports.
