Job summary

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's Optical Imaging and Spectroscopy Lab seeks a Research Scientist to lead an independent project in developing advanced imaging technologies for in vivo clinical imaging and slide-free histology.

The successful candidate will design experiments, manage cell cultures and preclinical protocols, and contribute to real-time reconstruction and AI-enabled analysis, with a strong publication record and proficiency in MATLAB and Python.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific area is required.
• Eight (8) years of relevant work experience is required.
• Six (6) years of relevant work experience with a Master's degree.
• Three (3) years of relevant work experience with a PhD.

Responsibilities

• Lead an independent research project with mentorship and collaboration.
• Develop next-generation handheld/probe-based in vivo imaging.
• Develop computational reconstruction and real-time pipelines.
• Apply AI-enabled analysis to imaging data.
• Develop next generation point of care systems.
• Use DUV microscopy for rapid cytology/hematology measurements.
• Perform longitudinal, noninvasive imaging of 3D models and translational workflows.
• Oversee cell cultures and preclinical research protocols.
