Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Delgado Lab. Working with the PI with minimal supervision, you will engineer and carry out a variety of projects, independently shaping research direction and supervising junior lab members.

The role requires a doctorate in chemistry, biology, medicine, or related life sciences, plus experience with animal models, histochemistry, proteomics and advanced microscopy.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in chemistry, biology, medicine or other natural, life or health care science directly related to the assigned area of research.
• Two years advanced journal level work experience in a clinical or research setting.
• Experience communicating and disseminating research results at conferences, publications and presentations.
• Experience maintaining and managing animal colonies and biosafety/institutional guidelines compliance.
• Ability to supervise junior personnel and independently drive independent research projects.

Responsibilities

• Independently design, execute, troubleshoot and interpret complex experiments using murine models and patient samples, employing molecular, cellular and computational approaches.
• Lead collaborations with internal and external investigators to advance project development and manuscript output.
• Develop and mentor junior personnel; manage manuscripts and grant preparations for submission.
• Maintain and manage animal colonies; ensure compliance with biosafety and regulatory requirements.
• Digest literature to introduce new techniques and stay current in the field; train lab members in specialized methods.
