Job summary

SSI SCHÄFER seeks an experienced ISO 14001 Lead Auditor to plan and conduct independent environmental management system audits at supplier and operational facilities. The role evaluates compliance with ISO 14001 and environmental regulations while identifying nonconformities and improvement opportunities.

The candidate must have strong technical knowledge, report-writing skills, and the ability to work independently in customer-facing environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Sustainability, EHS or related field.
• At least 2 years ISO 14001 or EMS auditing experience.
• Certification: ISO 14001:2015 or ISO 14001:2026 Lead Auditor.

Responsibilities

• Understand and apply ISO 14001 requirements.
• Plan, prepare for, and conduct EMS audits at suppliers and facilities.
• Review EMS documentation, records, and evidence.
• Interview management, employees, and process owners.
• Identify environmental aspects, impacts, and compliance obligations.
• Evaluate operational controls, emergency preparedness, objectives, and monitoring.
• Document nonconformities clearly and write audit reports.
• Communicate audit results with customers, suppliers, and site personnel.
• Maintain objectivity, confidentiality, and ethical conduct throughout audits.
• Identify risks and opportunities for environmental and operational improvements.
