Job summary

Thimble Alterations LLC is seeking a skilled wedding dress specialist to join its network of independent alteration professionals. You will provide precision tailoring for bridal gowns and manage delicate fabrics in a home studio environment.

You will hem, take in and let out dresses, build custom bustles, adjust bodices and zippers, and maintain accurate measurements. Independent contractor status offers flexible bookings and direct connections with local brides.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience tailoring bridal or fine formalwear.
• Comfort working with multi-layer garments and structured construction.
• Accurate, repeatable measuring and fitting technique.
• Reliable communication with brides and clear delivery timelines.

Responsibilities

• Hem, take in, and let out wedding dresses across silhouettes (A-line, ball gown, mermaid, sheath, fit-and-flare).
• Build custom bustles (American, French, ballroom, over) for each gown's train.
• Adjust bodices, alter straps and necklines, replace or add cups, install or repair zippers and lacing.
• Work confidently with lace, tulle, silk, satin, organza, beaded and sequined overlays.
