Job summary

J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. is seeking an Independent Contractor with subject matter expertise in Air Permitting regulations to join the EHS Consulting practice.

This role is contract-based and does not create an employment relationship; workers must reside in the U.S. and supply their own tools and methods. Responsibilities include delivering consulting services, developing curriculum, performing safety audits, and staying current with regulatory changes while expanding service offerings

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental or a Science related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in air permitting in a consulting environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides consulting and educational services to clients, either in-house, off-site or through Internet technology.
• Develops, documents, and maintains curriculum and materials for general and client-specific applications.
• Conducts safety audits and assessments, develops customized reports and safety manuals, and delivers regulatory related training.
• Maintains a high level of regulatory expertise. Monitors and assesses regulatory changes, communicates regulatory information to staff and clients.
• Proactively develops additional business within client base. Identifies and analyzes customer needs, develops concepts and proposals, schedules activities and closes contracts.
• Provides subject matter expertise and sales support to other departments, such as Editorial, Sales, Technology Services, Managed Services, etc., to assist the company in maintaining consistency and quality of regulatory-related products and services.
• Identifies and develops additional service offerings.

Position Summary

As we look to expand our service offerings, we are seeking to add an Independent Contractor to our EHS Consulting practice who has subject matter expertise in Air Permitting regulations. This opportunity is for an Independent Contractor only and does not constitute an employment relationship. Independent Contractors must reside in the U. S. and be legally authorized to perform services within the United States.

To Be Considered As An Independent Contractor, Individuals Must

• Operate as an independent safety consulting business (e.g., sole proprietor, incorporated entity, or equivalent)
• Provide services to multiple clients and maintain a non-exclusive consulting practice
• Supply their own tools, methodologies, instructional materials, and business processes necessary to deliver services
• Be responsible for all taxes, insurance, and business-related expenses
• Provide their own computer, equipment, and tools necessary to perform services
• Maintain appropriate professional liability coverage, as required under the contractual agreement

Travel requirements vary based on client engagements, audit needs, and training delivery, and are defined by project or statement of work.

Other Skills/Qualifications

• Must be proficient in the use of a PC and MS Office Suite.
• Excellent communication skills - verbal, written, and presentation.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with associates and client representatives at all levels.
• Ability to work independently or within a team environment.
• Knowledge of EHS to include environmental compliance at both a national and state level. Workplace safety experience a plus.
• Self-starter with strong cognitive problem-solving abilities.
• Motivated goal-oriented individual with excellent organization, planning & implementation, time-management, and quality control skills.
• Strong working knowledge of sales, marketing, and finance concepts related to operating an independent consulting practice.

Physical Requirements

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Periodic travel to customer sites and/or industry and training events may be required based on assignment.
